About Finksburg Veterinary Center

Compassionate, Professional Veterinary Care—Right at Home

At Finksburg Veterinary Center, Dr. David Vaughan provides calm, compassionate, and professional care for pets throughout Finksburg, Westminster, Carroll County, and nearby areas of southern Pennsylvania. As a mobile veterinary practice, Finksburg Veterinary Center brings trusted, one-on-one veterinary care directly to your doorstep—minimizing stress for both pets and owners while ensuring a more personal experience.

Dr. Vaughan’s approach is simple: exceptional veterinary care should come with understanding, empathy, and convenience. Every appointment takes place where pets feel most comfortable—their own home—allowing for thorough, attentive care without the anxiety of car rides or crowded waiting rooms.

A Veterinary Practice Built on Experience and Heart

After more than 25 years of operating a traditional brick-and-mortar clinic in Finksburg, Dr. Vaughan transitioned to a 100% mobile practice in 2016. His goal was to redefine how veterinary care could be delivered—moving away from the stress of clinic visits and creating an experience that prioritizes calm, comfort, and connection.

With over 30 years of veterinary experience, Dr. Vaughan continues to offer the same trusted services his clients have always relied on—wellness exams, vaccinations, lab testing, pain management, and compassionate end-of-life care—now delivered in a way that better supports both pets and their people.

His practice is rooted in three guiding values:

Kindness

Every pet and family are treated with empathy and respect.

Integrity

Honest, transparent communication is at the heart of every visit.

Service

Care that truly goes above and beyond expectations.

About Dr. David Vaughan

Veterinarian

Dr. David Vaughan has been caring for pets in private small animal practice for over 25 years. A graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech (Class of 1991), he also holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Before settling in Finksburg in 2000, Dr. Vaughan practiced in West Virginia, Virginia, and Frederick County, Maryland—gaining broad experience across all areas of small animal care. He’s known for his calm, down-to-earth approach and his ability to connect deeply with both pets and their families. He believes animals are true family members and that compassionate, in-home veterinary care plays a vital role in their quality of life.

Dr. Vaughan grew up in Bowie, MD, where he was a standout athlete. As a starting pitcher, he helped lead the Bowie High School baseball team to a perfect 22-0 season and a Maryland State Championship in 1982. He was named to the Washington Post’s “All-Metropolitan Team” in both 1982 and 1983—achievements that laid the foundation for his love of sports, which he still enjoys today.

Outside of veterinary work, Dr. Vaughan shares his life with three dogs, several cats (one of whom, Austin, once starred in a national cat food commercial and posed with celebrities in NYC), fish, three sheep, and two goats. He’s a proud father of two young adult children, both active in local sports. After the loss of his wife in 2022, Dr. Vaughan found continued purpose and healing in the relationships he’s built with his clients and their beloved pets.

His passions include sports, roller coasters, time with his animals, and the joy of serving his community through personalized, in-home veterinary care.
